02-10-13 Pastor Dave Lennander – 1 Thessalonians 4
February 8th, 2013
Greetings,
This Sunday, February 10th, at 9am and 10:45am, I will continue the series in I Thessalonians. I have been challenged as to how personal and affectionate Paul has been to the believers that he is writing to. Last week, Rob shared about how we should respond to people who oppose us and the gospel message. This Sunday, Paul shifts gears and deals with the topic of our sanctification which is the work that God is actively doing in our life to make us like Christ in character. He specifically, addresses how we should aim toward sexual purity in our lives. This passage for Sunday is probably the clearest teaching on sex in the Bible. I hope that you can make it.
Read I Thessalonians 4:1-8 to prepare your heart. Thought questions:
- Define sanctification in your own words.
- What are some specific and practical things you need to do to exercise self-control over your body to maintain sexual purity?
- What are some of the motivations to follow God’s ways regarding sex?
