Recent Racial Divide – 05.20.2012

05-20-12 Pastor Dave Lennander – Recent Racial Divide

Greetings,

Next weekend is Memorial Day Holiday marking the beginning of summer. I love the fact that there is a different pace to the seasons of the year. I like it that there is a clearly defined time of “summer”. In Germany, this is not the case and it was hard for me to get used to when we lived there. High School and college students have class into July. There is no Memorial or Labor Days.

We are going to mark this summer season by again doing a 15 week teaching series entitled, “Character in the Midst of Chaos”. This series will look at individuals who led out over the nation of Israel at a time when society was in upheaval without the bearings of truth – much like our day. The series will start next week (May 27th) and we will be going to one service at 10am.

For this Sunday, I will share my heart on a topic related to the racial divide that seems to be widening in the past few years. I am troubled that incidents of violence and animosity have grown all too common across this country. As Christians, we need to think and respond Biblically to this situation in order to help defuse tensions.

I want to ask for prayer this week for the following upcoming events:

  • Orientation – Tomorrow, May 19th
  • June 5th – Wisconsin Recall Elections
  • Summer Picnics (1st One on June 3rd)
