12-02-12 Pastor Dave Lennander – Coulee Rock, Grown up and Leaving Home
November 30th, 2012
Dear Cedarcreeker,
We have survived Deer Hunting, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and are on our way to Christmas and New Year’s holidays. My verse from this morning devotions was Psalm 119:161-162 in the NLT:
“Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word. I rejoice in your word like one who finds great treasure.”
I was reminded of the great value of God’s word. It is a treasure! This week I stood in line at the gas station as a man in front of me bought a Powerball Jackpot ticket. People were going crazy over the fact that the drawing was over $500,000,000 this week. I wondered what this man dreamed about getting if he won and the odds against him winning. All the while, he has available to him a treasure far more valuable and long lasting in the Scriptures that is completely and totally free.
This Sunday December 2nd, will be a time of celebration for us at Cedarcreek. We are rejoicing at the establishment and growth of our daughter church – Coulee Rock in La Crosse. I entitle this celebration “Coulee Rock – Grown Up and Leaving Home”. Our baby is leaving the nest! We will review how God lead us as a church to start another one in a different city. We are coming to end of our three year Capital Campaign of giving to start the church up. We can rejoice at the faithful commitment and giving of our people. We will hear from the men who led that Campaign. I also have two video interviews with people whose lives are being changed through Coulee Rock. I will update people on where Coulee Rock is at in finances and attendance. It should be a great time of rejoicing so I hope that you can join us.
Coulee Rock has bought us two cakes to share after the service as our treat and to thank us for the generous support over the last three years. May God cause them to be greatly fruitful!
Pastor Dave
