10-21-12 Pastor Dave Lennander – Transformational Church
October 19th, 2012
Greetings,
Last week, Rob taught and challenged us to be a church that is dependent on God through prayer. I received some very good and stirring quotes on prayer this week. Here are a few:
“Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers.” – Sidlow Baxter
“Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from prayer.” – John Bunyon
“I would rather teach one man to pray than ten men to preach.” – Charles Spurgeon
“Those persons who know the deep peace of God, the unfathomable peace that passeth all understanding, are always men and women of much prayer.” – R. A. Torrey
“Our prayers lay the track down which God’s power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, his power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails.” – Watchman Nee
This Sunday October 21st, I will be teaching on the topic of “Worship: Embracing Jesus” in our series entitled “Transformational Church”. In healthy churches, the presence of God is experienced through our gathering and our worship. God uses worship in a powerful way to transform our lives.
If you want to prepare your heart for this week’s message read Matthew 18:20.
- When we gather as believers, why did Jesus say that God would be present when God is Omnipresent (Always present everywhere)?
- Why is music such a powerful means of worship?
