09-09-12 Pastor Rob Gerber – Transitions
September 7th, 2012
Greetings,
“Let love be your highest goal” I Corinthians 14:1 NLT
“Let all that you do be done in love” I Corinthians 16:14
“But the goal of our instruction is love” I Timothy 1:5
I have been meditating on the above verses for several weeks. It is hard to boil down the Christian life any simpler. I have been challenged recently to hold to one of the specific qualities of love – “does not take into account a wrong suffered”. Love is really tested when we are wronged or hurt. We want to get back at that person / take revenge. Genuine love overlooks an offensive so that we don’t become bitter or negative to the person doing the harm. I hope that you will make love your aim in life.
Over the next two weeks, Rob and I will do a mini-series that is kind of unusual. This Sunday, Rob will teach on “Transitions”. Fall is a big period of transition in our lives. The vacation period ends, school starts, the weather turns cooler, the leaves turn and, of course, there is football. He will look at how transitions in life affect us and how we should respond to them. Next week, I will talk about God’s purpose in seasons, cycles and the seasons of life. It should be interesting. I hope that you can join us!
Please note that we are back at two services this Sunday at 9 and 10:45.
