07-15-12 Pastor Rob Gerber – Character in the Midst of Chaos
Greetings,
On my first day here in the office two weeks ago I received a card from my wife that said, “There you go, stepping out in faith, doing great things for the Lord!” I realize that all that is really happening is that I am doing the next thing in front of me that God has placed in my life. And yet, it is by faith that we make such steps. The step itself is never all that big when it really comes down to it. I got in the car and walked through the door here at Cedarcreek. A very simple, routine progression of any person’s day, to rise from our slumber and move about our day. Whether you are taking a new step of faith or the same step you’ve taken for the last ten years, reconsider what you are doing and see that it is by faith that you start this new day.
Our steps are made firm by the Lord, when He delights in our way; though we stumble, we shall not fail headlong, for the Lord holds us by the hand. -Psalm 37:23-24
This Sunday, Rob will be speaking on the next judge in a series we have titled, Character in the Midst of Chaos. The story this week comes to us in Judges 10. Here you will find Jephthah, a mighty man of valor, yet shamed by his own family and kicked out because his mother was a prostitute. When the oppression became severe, the same brothers that told him to leave ask him to come save them. I would encourage you to read the story to get some background information in preparation to Sunday’s teaching.
